One of the prominent tribal art by the tribes of the Bastar region, Chhattisgarh, India. The Bastar artifacts typically portray the rural lifestyle of the tribal community, incorporating rustic scenes with the farmer as the main focus. Tribal were certainly the first metal smiths of India and they still continue. They create the most famous tribal imagery in iron that reveals a unique view of life, nature and the gods, through ancient processes of metalwork. Their process is simple and basically includes forging and hammering the metal. Using only a limited tools and a simple coal furnace, they twist and bend hot iron into expressive shapes. Bastar Wall hangings are now adorning homes all over the world. Our bastar collection displays unique quality of rawness in the finish that adds to the rustic appeal.
