I feel that while Ganpati has been depicted by numerous artists in several forms and shapes, HIS uniqueness makes HIM a unique subject every time HE is put on canvas by an artist.

This work is based on yellow which is one of the most sacred color in Indian culture because it represents fire and as impurities are burnt by fire, this color symbolizes purity.

An important feature of this work is Ganpati’s broken tusk which as per folklore, Ganesha lost during his fight with the very strong Lord Parshurama. Parshurama attacked Ganesh with his axe which was given to him by Ganesha’s father- Lord Shiva. Lord Ganesh could not disrespect his father’s gift and hence bore the blow from the axe resulting in a broken tusk.

The three lines onhis forehead are borrowed from his father, Lord Shiva and the red dot is asymbol of his mother Goddess Shakti.

This is a watercolor on handmade eco-frinedly "Khadi" paper.
